The first numbers released show that, SYRIZA seems to be but a breath away from forming a majority government whilst New Democracy suffers one of its greatest defeats in recent years.
The percentage gained by Golden Dawn, placing it in third place, is also noteworthy albeit for the wrong reasons. To Potami and KKE follow coming in fourth and fifth place.
The Panhellenic Socialist Movement party PASOK has also suffered a crushing defeat making these elections one of the worst in its history. Meanwhile Panos Kammenos’ Independent Greeks party also seems to have lost a large proportion of its voters. Finally, ex Prime Minister George Papandreou and his Socialist Democrat Movement party will most likely not make it into Parliament.
